About the speakers:
Katharine Dommett is Professor of Digital Politics at the The University of Sheffield. Her research focuses on digital technology and democratic politics, with a particular focus on data use, election campaigns and regulation. In the panel, Kate will shed light on accountability mechanisms when exploring the use of AI, how AI will impact parties and their campaigns, and more.
Mark Scott is Chief Technology Correspondent at POLITICO, writing about the global collision of technology and politics. He will speak about the role the media play in addressing the use of AI in elections and to what extent this realistically reflects how it’s actually being utilized.
Claes de Vreese is Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Society, with a special focus on media and democracy at the Universiteit van Amsterdam and co-director of our lab. He will share insights on key challenges and policy responses to the use of Generative AI in (European) elections.
